EAST Student Council: Serving as unto the Lord

L-R: Mikeel Arana (President), Rebecca Chen (Treasurer), Japheth Chew (Vice-President) and Anj Pantaleon (Prayer Co-ordinator)

At a recent EAST Student Council’s Annual General Meeting, we had a time of appreciation for our Student Council (SC) 2022-2023 members who have been faithfully serving the EAST community over the past year. We have been very blessed with the zest, joy, community spirit and prayerful ministry that the SC has brought into the EAST community.

This outgoing cohort of SC is made up of international students from around Asia. We have witnessed a high level of synergy when this team came together to serve and lead the EAST community. This synergy was felt by the entire school, and it has energized all through the times of celebration fellowship, worship, and community games. The SC had also sensitively led us through prayer sessions in refocusing on God amidst the stress of studies and frenzy of activities.

Student Council AGM 2022

How have the Student Council (SC) been instrumental in developing community at EAST?

The answer to this question and more were part of the report made at the SC Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 25 March 2022.

The program was designed as a Thanksgiving Service and SC Annual Election. There was praise and prayer time as we thank God for: the graduating students; the events and activities of SC as reported by the Student President; testimonies of growth by SC members; and the casting of votes by the students for the next SC. The votes will be tallied and the final slate of elected candidates who have agreed to serve will be made known at a later date.

On 4 March 2022,  last Friday, EAST Family gathered for a fun day. The faculty, students and staff, old & young, the Avengers, the cast of Lord of the Ring, and even Moses came with his umbrella. We had songs, laughter and even a dance.  Teams were grouped with unique names like “Baby Shark” and “Three Blind Mice”. We were entertained by the Myanmar Trio (Zaini, Yoe Yoe & Ta Eh), the Bahasa Boy Band headed by Choon Voon the dancing king, a Gregorian chant by none other than our Dr Lewis Winkler and a romantic ballad by our resident crooner Roy Tan.
