With the COVID-19 outbreak, stock values worldwide have plummeted over the past few days. I have not bothered to find out how much my retirement portfolio has already lost since the days and weeks ahead will likely be worse.
Being significantly closer to retirement age than when I started in ministry, I confess, everything that’s happened recently has me thinking about questions of provision. Will there be enough to live on in the days ahead? Will our financial support significantly shrink in the wake of job and market losses? Will I be able to leave an inheritance to my children’s children?
Educational Ministry of the Church (Day Course)
LF532 Educational Ministry of the Church (3 credits)
Tuesdays, 1.45 pm-5.00 pm
This course is for every educational director, Sunday school teacher, and leader of the church ministry. The church is one of the main platforms of each believer’s Christian education for healthy spiritual formation. This course offers a practical and comprehensive introduction to the educational ministries in the church. Brief yet foundational theories for promoting of Christian education will be examined along with biblical and theological perspective in educational ministries. The interdisciplinary understanding of the church ministry for each age group will be dealt with for Christian growth among God’s people.
Han Hye Jeong Justine, PhD, has served in counselling ministries in Korea, Japan, and USA with Cru, and as a pastor of Women’s and Children’s Ministry for Korean-American churches. She was also a course tutor of Education and Pastoral Ministry in the Distance Education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA).
This class is for the semester of 20 July to 20 November 2020. It may be conducted fully online or a combination of online and in-person depending on situation. Registration deadline is Monday, 13 July 2020. You may register online or contact us for registration form.
Alumna: EAST has a very special place in my heart
Janice Tay, Alumna turned Fund Development Coordinator at EAST
Janice came to EAST through her pastor’s recommendation. The lesson that really stuck with her while at EAST is doing ministry integration through the head, the heart and the hands. Her favourite class at EAST was Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics and Mentoring Group. “I really enjoy Bible Study Methods class. I learnt to observe, interpret and apply the Bible into my own life. I enjoyed the ladies fellowship in the Mentoring Group and sharing our lives together.”
Janice’s favourite teachers at EAST are Dr Keith Shubert, Rev Jacob Li and Mrs Josephine Goh. Dr Keith Shubert is very knowledgeable. He has a wealth of knowledge and he is a treasure trove of knowledge. Rev Jacob Li is very well-equipped and gives his 100% to his students. Mrs Josephine Goh, her mentoring group leader, is very passionate about mentoring people and has a very “on the ball” personality. like an energiser bunny.
