Cross Cultural Team Internships: Cambodia, Philippines, & Timor Leste

One of the highlights of the school’s program is that students are required to participate in a Cross Cultural Team Internship (CCTI) program.  This is EAST’s ‘hands-on” experience for our students to experience ministering in a cross-cultural setting. Even though the students have experienced this in Singapore but we believe a different exposure will allow them to experience the diversity of ministering across borders and culture. The recent cohort of students were divided into two CCTI teams but with borders constraint, they can only do the trips digitally.

Ministry Weekend 2021: Drawn to see God’s Heart

 

Below is a reflection of the MG (Mentoring Group) Ministry Weekend by Dr Jeannette Shubert, EAST Associate Academic Dean, as she recounts the experiences and learning by students and faculty.

Teamwork. Faith-stretching. Cross-cultural. Partnership. Learning. The size of these words expanded as EAST students and faculty contributed to an online Word Cloud during a recent Chapel service. The Word Cloud highlighted repeated responses to the question, “What three words would you use to describe MG (Mentoring Group) Ministry Weekend?”

Each September, East Asia School of Theology (EAST) suspends classes as MGs, comprised of faculty and students, partner with churches and ministries in Singapore and nearby countries for Ministry Weekend.

East Asia School of Theology (EAST) exists for the God-given mission to raise Christlike leaders for the Great Commission. For the past decades, EAST has been blessed with faculty, ministry staff and students coming from many nations such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Taiwan, India, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, America, Africa and others. As such, EAST is uniquely poised as an international multicultural learning community. They bring to EAST community the beautiful gift of their culture, contribute formatively to the students’ preparation for future missions and enhance the learning experiences for all at EAST.
