All things connect together for good in PIM

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, safety measures have made it necessary for Partners in Ministry (PIM) courses to be offered online. The scope of PIM’s online reach has thus expanded to Asia and beyond. This provides opportunities to impact more with its mission to equip wives of men in full-time ministry or bi-vocational ministry to grow in partnership with their husbands in the Lord’s work. Praise God!

A for Aleph, EAST Aleph!

Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. At East Asia School of Theology (EAST), the term EAST Aleph refers to a two-week immersion experience for new students. It occurs each July before the start of a new academic year and is considered the start of matriculation for EAST’s academic programs. Below is a brief report on this year’s EAST Aleph (2-16 July 2021) written by Mrs Josephine Goh-Lew, an EAST Resident Faculty and the Director of Mentoring Groups. It also includes a reflection on the event by a new student, Mr Daniel Yoncer, who went through the actual EAST Aleph.

“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” – Psalms 118:23, ESV

Lord, you have done great things in our midst.  By your grace and the faithfulness of our founders, EAST was established 29 years ago. EAST has equipped some 500 leaders and missionaries from 23 nations. As a multicultural community, we build on the good work of our founders to develop Christlike servant leaders holistically in the heart, head, and hands who are fulfilling the Great Commission around the world.

Marvel at the Lord’s doing

“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” Psalms 118:23, ESV.

We affirmed the words of the psalmist as those who are redeemed by the Lord and whose life and future is built upon the cornerstone. We rejoice in God’s marvelous work, despite the rejection of the builders.

Who are those who rejected him? Religious leaders, Roman leaders, Jewish multitudes. In a modern context, he is still rejected by various human authorities. As those who follow Christ, we are to marvel and rejoice despite this, because God’s work is good, and indeed his love endures forever. Psalm 118:29, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”

Shalom.
