Delight in the Law of God

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night..” ~ Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV)

The poetic and metaphoric psalms began with a direct assertion of one who is called “blessed” by virtue of his disassociation with the “wicked or ungodly, sinners or unholy, and mockers or desecrators” but one who is in close fellowship with YHWH, God Himself, at all times.

Happy 55th National Day, Singapore!

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour. For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations. (1 Timothy 2:1-3; Psalm 22:28, ESV)

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honour the emperor. God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.” (Psalm 33:12; 1 Peter 2:17; James 4:6b, NIV).

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14, ESV)

Blessed to be a Blessing

On Pentecost Sunday (31 May 2020), The Blessing Singapore premiered on YouTube, sung by 772 singers from 177 Churches and Movements in Singapore. These Christians have come together “to sing a blessing over our land” based on Numbers 6:22-27. The Bible reminds us that as we have been blessed, we need to be His channel of blessings to others. According to The Blessing SG YouTube channel,

It has been beautiful to see how the Singapore church has risen to love and care for the city, from supplying thousands of meals, masks and giving donations, to opening their churches for the homeless, and to the many unseen acts of love and kindness. As we continue to do so, it is on many of our hearts to now gift to the nation a prayer and a song, to bring hope and speak blessing.

An EAST staff is among those who sang it together with the larger community of Christians. Can you spot Agnes? Click the photo above or the video below to watch the blessing being sung. Shalom.
