Our Mentoring Groups have been serving together over the recent weekends in various webinars as an outreach to the community over online platforms.
As the webinars covered a range of varied topics, we have gleaned much from the learning experience of hosting the webinars and listening along to our speakers’ messages.
This year’s Ministry Weekend has indeed been a unique one for our Mentoring Groups, as we learned how to reach the community online instead of physical seminars. Yes, it was a steep learning curve as online platforms were new to many of us. Still, we are giving thanks for the learning experiences we have had in adjusting to such new normals in ministry.
As we look ahead to new normals and new challenges in ministry, we can keep Deuteronomy 31:8 in mind as our encouragement from the Lord:
The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you;
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
– Deuteronomy 31:8 –
Be blessed and encouraged, as you walk with the Lord today and in the days ahead.

The first Friday of September has been designated as Teachers’ Day in Singapore since 2011. Prior to that, Teachers’ Day used to fall on 1 September. The first Friday of September has now been an official school holiday in public schools for the past nine years. This #WeekendGoodRead is taken from a local Christian blog, a post written by a Teacher turned Pastor, Ps Low Kok Guan from Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church.
In the post, he reflects on what he wished he knew before he had joined teaching and gave tips to young teachers and those perhaps considering the teaching the profession on how he managed to teach for 10 years before he answered the call to serve God full-time.

Happy Teachers’ Day weekend to all Teachers!

It is a good to speak blessings over each other in the Lord. A recently-written song has worded the Lord’s blessings in a way that we can sing over each other:
The Lord’s favor be upon you,
and a thousand generations,
and your family, and your children,
and their children, and their children.
This blessing we pray over you and your family, wherever you are around the world.

In today’s short #WeekendReflection, I have chosen a quote from Dallas Willard on the topic of “Hurry”. It is easy to be in a hurry to meet deadlines, and to rush for appointments when we slowly return to a “new normal” of coping with the Covid-19 situation wherever we are. In Singapore, during the Circuit Breaker period, many things kind of came to a standstill and people were in less of a hurry. Even the ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) charges, road tolls, were waived because traffic was lessened. The ERP charges will soon be restored as traffic flow has increased and people are again in more of a hurry and rush, especially during peak hours.
