New Testament Narratives (Day Course)

New Testament Narratives (Concurrent)
NT510, 3 Credits
Tuesdays, 1.30 pm-4.30 pm

There’s only one life of Jesus Christ, so why are there four Gospel accounts?  This course will uncover the way each Gospel book gives us a compatible, yet distinct, portrait of the character, and teachings of our Lord.

Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.

Audit students will need to complete all of the asynchronous Learning Tasks that are in preparation for each weekly session. That includes both the posting and response on Populi.

(Concurrent courses are held both onsite and online simultaneously. Credit students who are Singapore residents can only take the course onsite. Audit students can choose either onsite or online.)

Keith Shubert, PhD, is a staff member of Cru for 45 years, has ministered in more than 30 countries, and served as resident or adjunct faculty for four seminaries in Asia and the USA. He lived in Israel for three years while completing a Master’s degree in Historical Geography of Ancient Israel.

This class may be taken for free from tuition fees by audit students under the GLO@EAST promotion (S$40 registration fee payable). Registration deadline is Friday, 9 July 2021.

Thanksgiving for EMH Facilities

In June 2019, EAST leadership found a five-storey building at 118 Joo Chiat Road that seemed tailormade for EAST. It could house our offices, library and classrooms under one roof and purchased this building together with CRU Singapore’s partnership and help. The building, now affectionately called our EAST Mission Hub cost $17.8m. EAST has to raise $8m for the use of the third, fourth and fifth storey of the building. By God’s grace, $6m has been raised to date with a current shortfall of about $2m. From being founded in a meeting room at CRU’s Great Commission Training Center, then moving to Parish of Christ Church’s rented facilities at 1 Dorset Road, EAST has not had a permanent home since 1992.

Locked down for good

Thomas Kwok Chuek Hang (Hong Kong), MDiv Teaching & Exposition

When Singapore went into ‘Circuit Breaker’ on 7th April 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19, Thomas Kwok’s world was turned upside down and inside out.

“All schools, offices, and eating places were closed,” says the Information Engineering graduate from Chinese University of Hong Kong. “We couldn’t go out except to do basic essentials like getting groceries and doing exercises.”

So, to escape from being cooped up in the dorm, Thomas took to exercising outdoors every day. This developed into a routine that made all the difference to his final days at EAST.
