Matthew Winslow & Family (wife Sijie, children – Hudson, Amber, Alethea & dog Caspian)
Mr Matthew Winslow joined EAST as an adjunct faculty in 2010 and served as a resident faculty two years later. From 2014-2016, he was our Dean of Students and mentored the Student Council. He and his family (wife Sijie, and three children Hudson, Amber and Alethea) then left for the US to pursue his PhD in Church History at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is almost at the tail-end of his research and completion of his dissertation. Lord willing, Matthew should be returning with his family to EAST by next July in 2022. Below is an interview to find out more about his dissertation, church ministry and family.
Newest Faculty: Derek Atkins

At the previous East Chapel, Mr Derek Atkins shared a message from Psalms 121 and reminded us to turn to God and fix our eyes on Jesus Christ in times of trouble and uncertainties. He and his wife Lai Kein did just that when the Covid-19 pandemic started. Back then, they had returned from the mission field to visit Lai Kein’s family for Chinese New Year. That short visit has since ballooned into an entire re-evaluation of God’s plans in their lives. Now, Derek teaches at EAST, and Lai Kein serves in a local Methodist Church. Meanwhile, their teenage son Caleb is transitioning to a home-schooling lifestyle in Singapore, while attending a ministry for third culture kids. Read more
Dean of Students: “God, my life belongs to you.”

Rev Dr Casey Lok and his wife Siew Leng are no strangers to EAST. Even before Casey joined EAST as a resident faculty in 2015, Casey was with EAST as a student and graduated in 2007 with a Master of Divinity in Teaching and Exposition. He went on to obtain a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Theology in Practice from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2017, and was ordained as a Minister by the Association of Mission Practising Churches in 2019. In 2018, he was appointed Associate Dean of Students to assist the then Dean of Students Dr Roland Tan. In July 2021, Casey stepped up to be the new Dean of Students.
Introducing EAST’s Newest Faculty: Rev Jarred Jung
EAST’s newest Theology professor Rev Jarred Jung, his wife Shelley and three children TJ (Timothy John), Hannah and Ryn are preparing for their transition from the US to Singapore at the moment. EAST News interviewed him recently as to how God directed he and his family to EAST.
- How did you and your family first heard about EAST and decided to move from America to Singapore to teach at EAST?
The first time I heard about EAST was when I was in a seminary class in Orlando, Florida and sat beside William Lim on the first day on class! It is a small world. But actually I learned more about EAST as I worked on the theological development team with Cru in East Asia and saw the work EAST was doing to help train our staff in that part of the world.

We had our first eOpen House on 17 March 2021 to extend a warm welcome to potential students around the world. For those seeking a suitable seminary for their season of equipping, it was a time of community outreach where our faculty, staff, students and alumni interacted with our guests as one school.
