Life’s Big Questions: What’s Wrong With The World?

What’s wrong with the world? (Genesis 3:1-13)

The Christmas season is often a festive and busy time for most. Amidst the hustle and bustle, however, we may still be struggling with issues of life and wonder if there is lasting joy and hope. In this, the first of a series of messages on Life’s Big Questions, it seeks to address how the Bible speaks honestly about our struggles and also offers true hope and joy. This is why Christians can celebrate Christmas.

Hear from Elder Caleb Yap, Grace Baptist Church (GBC) as he addressed the topic on the most fundamental issue that is at the root of all problems faced by humanity through the ages. The big idea: We have dishonoured God and are hiding from Him, but He has hope for us still.

We are asking if you might be interested to help with our school’s English for Seminarians (EFS) program. You may help by being an English language coach or teaching English as Second Language (ESL) classes to our international students. Or, you may recommend someone you know to us who can teach or coach others in English as per above. You can read more about our EFS here.

We are starting the next EFS cohort in January 2025. Please email our EFS Program Director, Rev Derek Atkins (derekatkins [at] east.edu.sg) if you are interested to help or know of contacts who may be willing to help.

Any leads or assistance would be highly appreciated. Shalom.

Climate Change: A Theological Primer

Climate Change: A Theological Primer, by Rev Dr Jarred Jung

Why are we concerned with climate change? I think that a large part of climate change today is man-made climate change as our planet is warming too fast as a result of greenhouse gases. Now, I see the results are coming to fruition and do not think the correlation is just a coincidence.

With the rise of carbon dioxide omitting from things such as vehicles, cars, factories and airplanes, we have more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which leads to rising temperatures. I am not a science or climate change denier. I believe it is a big issue, which is one that Christians, in particular, need to take seriously.

How did we get to this place to where climate change is an issue? By this, I do not mean “why is there global warming?” What is at the root of this need to deal with an issue like man-made climate change? To discuss this, we are going to look at the Bible.
