Alumna Pang Xin Xian: Joy of Seeing God’s Fingerprints

We felt very excited as it was the first time to the pottery for everyone. Many lessons stood out for me. The first was that wheel-throwing is a slow and repetitive process, which requires many rounds of spinning. A few times, I exerted too much or too little pressure and my clay went wobbly. Thank God that the instructor was always on hand to re-center my clay. This spoke to me of God’s work in my life, and how He is always there even though it feels like I am just going around in circles.

And as soon as my cup took shape, my second lesson began. I noticed lines along its sides, and the perfectionist in me panicked. I wanted to get rid of them right away. But then I learned that every piece of pottery in the room had lines on them. They were the prints of the potter’s hands.

 

What a comfort to know God’s fingerprints are on me, through all the ups and downs in my past. Now I have confidence to continue to trust in His good and loving hands for my future.
