EAST alumna, Winnie (left), with husband and EAST alumnus, Daniel Yeo (right).
EAST alumnus Daniel Yeo graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry in 2016. When he was an EAST student, he was introduced to HealthServe for his practicum which he later joined as a staff. Recently, he was featured in The Straits Times for his good work among the migrant workers in Singapore through his ministry there. Here is an excerpt:
Mr Yeo, who has been a case worker with HealthServe for five years, said his most memorable case surfaced recently. It involved Mr Rahaman, 38, a Bangladeshi who suffered a stroke as he was battling Covid-19. He overcame the infection but was paralysed on the left side of his body and lost his speech ability because of the stroke. Mr Yeo wanted to do more to comfort the patient during his weekly visits, so he would pack Bangladeshi food for Mr Rahaman to have a taste of home. He also facilitates video calls between the Bangladeshi and his family. Mr Yeo said: “Even though he couldn’t speak, I could see that he was so happy to be able to hear the voices and see the faces of his wife and daughters.”
The Straits Times article in full can be read here (subscription required) and the video clip may be viewed below. Praise God for Daniel’s good work among the migrants!

Today’s #SaturdayGoodRead is an article titled “10 Convictions About Giving.” The author is very clear about the principles of giving to God’s kingdom work and the encouragement for us to be generous givers. Such giving simply reflects God’s heart of overflowing generosity. John Rinehart sees God as the greatest giver for us to emulate, that true giving is really about the posture of our hearts, and that giving increases our joy. These are the first three convictions about giving. To read the article for all ten, see below.

Alumni Michael Tien (left) and Wong Soo Fong (right)
My wife, Soo and I are alumni of EAST, having spent 5 wonderful years at EAST as students.
During one of my first lessons the lecturer made this statement “If the student has not learnt, than I have not taught”. In my years of previous education, I have not heard such a statement and I knew that my time at EAST was going to be extraordinary.

A Christmas Reflection by Mrs Margaret Chan, EAST Partners-in-Ministry Program Director
There are quite a number of Christian platforms advertising Christmas concerts for our viewing on Youtube over the Christmas season. There are also Christian choirs giving online performances via zoom platform. Churches all over the world will conduct Christmas services on Christmas day. These are joyous ways to proclaim the Christmas message to the public, for viewers to enjoy performances and for worshippers to rejoice over the Christmas message being proclaimed.
Abba Father sent Jesus into this world as a tiny baby not just for us to celebrate Christmas once a year, in merry making and giving of gifts. Abba Father sent Christ into this world to become the Saviour of sinners so that we can be reconciled to Him and become His beloved children.
