From FEAR to FAITH: Reflection on Faculty Development Day (Nov 23, 2020) by Ms Napitchaya Su Panum, EAST Faculty

I joined EAST in October 2019 with little teaching experience. It was my first time being on the other side of a seminary classroom! The fear of inadequacy was one of the biggest challenges for a “teacher-in-training” like me. However, the Lord has turned my fear into faith in the One who calls through EAST’s Faculty Development Day (FDD) training!

My doubt was caused by my misconception about teaching and learning. I knew that I couldn’t meet the traditional “Sage on the Stage” lecturing standard. However, through my experience during FDD, I learned that the “Guide on the Side” facilitating skill is the real art and science of teaching and learning that I need to develop.

Awaiting Jesus

We are less than two weeks away from Christmas. Today’s verse from John 1:14 reminds us of how the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. For those who lived in the days of Jesus’ birth and life, they have indeed seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Today, we who have put our trust in Jesus await the day of his second coming where we can see his full glory anew. Come, Lord Jesus, come.

The Advent season is here

The Advent season started last Sunday and we are into the second week of it. Let us prepare our hearts to ponder anew the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ whose name is Immanuel meaning “God with us”.

Studying Job with Dr. Mona Bias

EAST has been privileged to invite Dr. Mona Bias, from International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL), to teach the Book of Job as an intensive class over the last eight days. Dr. Bias is a published author and has co-authored A Commentary on the Book of Job. She is both scholarly and creative in her approach of teaching which included Zoom breakout sessions, videos, a class debate, times of quiet (lectio divina) in listening to God and a class play through dramatic narration aside from written assignments and a book review for the credit students.
