Long Service Appreciation 2022

During the last Chapel service of the year on 27 April 2022, the EAST community took time to appreciate the staff and faculty who have served EAST for at least five to fifteen years. The following were recognized and appreciated for their labour of love at EAST.

  • 15 Years of Service – Ms Jaclyn Ng (Finance)
  • 10 Years of Service – Rev Estella Liu (Faculty)
  • 5 Years of Service – Mr Raymond Lim (Administration), Ms Esther Tan (Alumni Office), and Ms Lisa Xu (Faculty)

Honorable mentions were also made for two faculty who have served as leaders at EAST for a term of three years each.

  • Dr Roland Tan, Dean of Students (2018 to 2021)
  • Rev Victor Kwok, Registrar (2017 to 2020)

Ms Jaclyn Ng was appreciated for serving in the area of finance at EAST for the past fifteen years. Countless of students have gone to her to pay their fees and made various arrangements of instalments when they had difficulty paying the full amount. Jaclyn has seen how God has provided for so many of our needy students and seen them through graduations. She is also the lady behind the many financial audits that EAST has to go through annually. She meticulously prepares for the external audit team to hold EAST accountable along with her supervisors. Her contribution to EAST has been invaluable over the past 15 years.

Rev Estella Liu who has served as a faculty at EAST for the past ten years first came to EAST as a student. She has grown in her ministry and outreach and has even settled down in Singapore over the years as God provided a life and ministry partner for her in Singapore. EAST Community enjoys Rev Estella Liu’s many exercise sessions that she leads whenever she emcees an event or Chapel. She lives an active, healthy lifestyle which she seeks to inspire the EAST Community to lead as well. She is involved with the EAST Extension Centers, especially in East Asia. Her teaching, interpretation and contribution to the countless students and lives she has touched is immeasurable.

EAST is grateful to Raymond Lim who serves in the Administrative and Operations department. He has been heavily involved in the two relocations that EAST has undergone, from 1 Dorset Road to 110 Middle Road, and from 110 Middle Road to 118 Joo Chiat Road. Raymond has been the right-hand man to EAST’s Dean of Administration Mr Nelson Lo. Even as a grandfather, he is always picking up new skills and attending conferences to keep up with the latest trends. He exemplifies the Chinese saying, “never stop learning”. All of us who are younger have much to learn from Raymond. He is an inspiration to many.

Esther Tan is also an EAST Alumna who was recruited by our previous Alumni Chaplain to help with the Alumni Network. For the past five years, Esther has been keeping in touch with many EAST Alumni from the world over. She has organised Zoom meets, and sends out monthly Alumni e-newsletters to help everyone keep in touch with urgent prayer requests, bereavements, and happy news of weddings and births as well. Aside from her main role in the Alumni Office, Esther has also been a secretary for the EAST Leadership Team. She is a valuable team player in the EAST Community.

It has also been five years since Lisa Xu joined EAST as an adjunct faculty. Lisa’s area of expertise is in Counselling and she has taught classes in Counselling at EAST. Her gentle demeanour and ever listening ear makes her a good counselor and someone who is very easy to talk to. It has been a blessing to have Lisa in the EAST Community where students or staff who needs counselling can easily approach her.

EAST is also grateful to Dr Roland Tan who has served as Dean of Students from 2018 to 2021 and Rev Victor Kwok who has served as Registrar from 2017 to 2020.
