Prayer Pointers – 8 April 2021

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1, ESV
Easter season was celebrated last Sunday which coincided with EAST’s season of preparation to send off our graduates and to receive new students.

Preparation and prayer

Ephesians 6:17–18: “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.”

Spiritual warfare is a very real part of our Christian lives. This battle fought spiritually, is naturally fought with spiritual weapons. Previously in Ephesians 6, Paul details various parts of armour and attaches spiritual values to each one. (Ephesians 6:10-16)

In the end, he concludes with the word of God and prayer, every Christian’s most powerful resources.

Prayer is to become a permanent fixture in every Christian’s lives, as emphasised by Ephesians 6:18 “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.”

When going into battle, we need to be as prepared as possible, and Paul’s advice here is that prayer is one of the best ways to prepare our hearts and mind for spiritual warfare. Are you ready?

Holy Saturday – The Significance

Design by Wong Ee Yuing

Holy Saturday is the name given to the day between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. In today’s #SaturdayGoodRead, we have picked out two blogposts related to the significance of Holy Saturday.

In the first blog titled What is Holy Saturday?, it clarifies what actually happened that day – how after the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ, the body was laid in a new tomb. If Jesus had not resurrected at all, our faith in Him would have been in vain (1 Corinthians 15:17). That first Holy Saturday was also the day where Jesus had “rested” from His work of salvation on the cross where he had proclaimed, “It is finished!” Scripture told us of that first Resurrection Sunday when Jesus arose from his physical death. Holy Saturday is therefore seen as a day of quiet contemplation as God’s people silently anticipate and await the celebration of the Risen King on Resurrection Sunday.

“Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.” – Psalms107:6, ESV

Thank God that we can come to Him by faith, trusting Him to deliver us when we are in trouble. Even when we are not in need, we can always come to the Lord in thanksgiving prayer. Shalom.

Prayer Pointers – 25 March 2021

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” – Philippians 4:4, ESV
What a privilege to be able to rejoice in our Lord, from whom all blessings flow and who protect us from all danger and harm. May He grant us supernatural joy and shalom peace as we place our trust in Him through all circumstances of life.
