Work for the Lord

Do you find it easy to work wholeheartedly 100% of the time? Work can often be stressful, tiring and frustrating since we work for and with other imperfect, sinful humans.

It was not always this way, however. Genesis 17-19:

And to Adam he said,

“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife
and have eaten of the tree
of which I commanded you,
‘You shall not eat of it,’
cursed is the ground because of you;
in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;
and you shall eat the plants of the field.
 By the sweat of your face
you shall eat bread,
till you return to the ground,
for out of it you were taken;
for you are dust,
and to dust, you shall return.”

Work is cursed by God to be a form of suffering for us due to sin.

Paul tells us not to work for ourselves and other men, but work instead for God. Knowing that in the end our eternal inheritance will be granted by Him and no one else.

Earlier in Colossians 3:17, Paul instructs us to “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

As we work, we should remember that we don’t just work for ourselves or for our companies, but as Christians our work and our attitude toward it are opportunities for us to Glorify God, as we should in everything we do.

The Advent season is here

The Advent season started last Sunday and we are into the second week of it. Let us prepare our hearts to ponder anew the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ whose name is Immanuel meaning “God with us”.

Studying Job with Dr. Mona Bias

This is a Zoom Screenshot of the Exposition of Job class with Dr. Mona Bias held from Nov 25 to Dec 4, 2020.

EAST has been privileged to invite Dr. Mona Bias, from International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL), to teach the Book of Job as an intensive class over the last eight days. Dr. Bias is a published author and has co-authored A Commentary on the Book of Job. She is both scholarly and creative in her approach of teaching which included Zoom breakout sessions, videos, a class debate, times of quiet (lectio divina) in listening to God and a class play through dramatic narration aside from written assignments and a book review for the credit students.

In the Spirit of Giving Thanks

We are thankful to the Lord for leading us thus far, and for the privilege of being a part of His equipping of today’s Christian leaders and believers for the fulfillment of His Great Commission. It is also our privilege to witness how our students have been transformed during their time at EAST to become more effective in life and ministry.

We are also glad to be praying and walking together with you as we go through these seasons of challenges together with the Lord. You have been our friend, prayer partner, ministry partner, hand of support and beloved community in Christ in all these seasons over the years in the history of EAST.

Indeed, for all these and more we give thanks, and rejoice together in the Lord as we see His Word bearing fruit in the lives of many.

Our Library Renewed.

Many a student and alumnus have memories and thanksgivings of seasons spent in the EAST library. It becomes a second home to many during intense seasons of the semester.

We are thankful that the library is now under one roof with our classrooms and school office–much more convenient compared to the time when all three were at different locations.

With a fresh coat of paint and new furniture, the library stands ready to be a place of fruitful research and thought-wrestling with the Lord.

The Lord provide you with inspiration and encouragement, as He brings you wisdom and understanding in your learning journey at EAST.
