Run the Race to Win – Rick Langston @Homecoming

How does one complete the race of life and emerge victorious in the eyes of God?

In his inimitable style, Dr Rick Langston told the story of failure of some and the success of others in the marathon of life. Drawing from his deep understanding of God’s Word and a rich lifetime of ministry, he exhorts each of us to run the race… and WIN! Then he outlines a biblical strategy for us to do so… answering the HOW it can be done.

A devotional from Dr Rick Langston recorded at Naples, Florida. This was addressed to all alumni, staff, and faculty present at the inaugural EAST Homecoming Retreat 2017 on the first day of the retreat, 11 May 2017. The devotional speak of longevity in faithfully discharging God’s call to serve Him faithfully in integrity all the days of our lives. According to Apostle Paul, the success in the race of life and ministry is not due to the runner’s speed–how fast–but on how we run it.

Rick is the founding faculty of EAST when it started in 1992 and continued in various leadership roles while teaching as a Resident Faculty. He was the Associate Dean of Academics when he and Laurel left Singapore for ministry back in the US. He is currently an EAST Adjunct Faculty. He and Laurel are much loved by many students and faculty/staff that they ministered with over the years at EAST. We praise God for their lives and ministry over the years and their continuing ministry beyond EAST.

Impact of Field Practicum on Life’s Mission

How does one apply biblical and theological principles in real life? Students do so through supervised field practicums. Field supervisors coach them in their personal growth and development of their practical ministry.  Michael Tien, one of those who have completed their field practicum, shared its impact on him which has resulted in a missional approach to his business and ministry.

At the recent Field Supervisors’ Tea, the students undergoing field practicum were prayerfully commissioned by their field supervisors. Dr Lau Ying Kheng, EAST Field Education Director, expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing partnerships we have with the field supervisors and their churches or organisations.

If you would like to partner with EAST in offering field practicums with your church or organisation, please contact us at eastinfo@east.edu.sg or come for a visit to our school.

Alumni’s Sharing – EAST 25th Anniversary

EAST alumni share from their hearts at the occasion of the school’s 25th Anniversary Celebration.

We thank God for the privilege of equipping these graduates toward Christlikeness as servant leaders for the Great Commission in East Asia and around the world. We are also grateful for His faithfulness in seeing us through the past 25 years and we do look forward to His supernatural outworking in the next 25 years and beyond.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

“A Surprising Journey”

Rev David Sun | 17 July 2017

Here is the story of a Singaporean professional who worked and lived in Hong Kong, subsequently called by God to serve as His under-shepherd there, then returned to Singapore for further equipping at a Bible school in “a surprising journey” of obedience.

I see a person’s life is made up of four stages and each stage is about 25 years. The first stage is about education and the second is about building a family and a career. The third stage is the Golden Stage where one is mature and at his prime. The final stage is the harvesting stage where one could enjoy the fruits of his life.

My First Stage

Hong Kong is my home as I was born there in 1960. I went to the United Kingdom for “A”-levels in 1979. I received my university education at the Imperial College of Science and Technology and finished with a First Class Honours in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Management Science in 1984 and 1985 respectively.
