In an era of accelerating change, leaders must develop the capacity for strategic foresight to navigate change, uncertainty, and respond effectively. This course engages students through the analysis and discussion of contemporary events and real-life case studies. Drawing on both futures studies and theological perspectives, students will explore fundamental questions: What is the future? Why is studying the future essential? How to study the future and be future-ready?

Gary Goh, EdD, directs the Master of Strategic Foresight Programme at Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS). He is Singaporean and serves as an itinerant educator, teaching across seminaries in Asia and China. His academic interests include technology, Christian education, and futures studies. He holds a Doctor of Education from the Asia Graduate School of Theology Alliance and a Master of Arts in Chinese Studies from the National University of Singapore. He regularly conducts AI training for Singapore government educators and is a speaker at events organized by the Ministry of Education. His papers have been published in the Journal of Youth and Theology, and conference proceedings of Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference, Singapore.

Examines both biblical principles and organisational best practices for accomplishing God-given vision in ministry contexts. Equips ministry leaders to think and plan strategically from discovery and articulation of core values, mission, and vision to the design and implementation of a long-term strategy.

Edwin Sam, MPA, DBA Studies, has held leadership positions both in the church and the public sector. He has experiences in working with the government, civil society and churches in close to ten Asia-Pacific countries in the areas of public policy, consulting, transformation and capacity building. Edwin is also an adjunct lecturer at the Social Service Institute, under the National Council of Social Service.
