Wishes & Prayers for SG 60

For SG60 With Love

Below are Wishes and Prayers from EAST Community around the World for SG60:

I want Singapore to be strong and prosperous in the next 60 years, where her people live in unity and harmony. I want Singapore to be a nation where equity, integrity and truth are the foundations of everyday life; where there is no discrimination of race, colour, social status, individual ability or appearance. I want Singapore to be a community of love, where people look after one another and where generosity roars. I want Singapore to be a friend to her neighbours and a contributor to all efforts of peace around the world.

May God bless Singapore with strength and prosperity and give into her heart, equity, integrity and truth that she would live out in her everyday life. May God help her embrace everyone, regardless of race, colour, status, ability or appearance, with love and generosity and also bless her with friends from many shores and enable her to contribute to every effort of peace around the world.

I want Singapore to be a nation that acknowledge Jesus as Saviour and God. The spirit of the Lord moves in Singapore and turn back hearts to Jesus, the generation bow down to worship Jesus. Singapore will become a Mission sending nation, who send missionaries and bring the gospel to the edge of the world!

My prayer is for the spirit of God to be poured out upon Singapore, the fear of the Lord be upon every heart. The churches rise and preach Jesus! Praying for the generation to come back to Jesus. That the light of God push back the darkness, amen!

• Ps Charles Bessie, Alumnus, Indonesia

For more visionaries in Singapore government – people who do not consider prosperity as the only marker for successful governance.

Christian churches to come to the fore as things get really dark before Jesus’s return.

• Deborah Tan, Alumna, previously based in Spain, now in Singapore

Based on its foundations of honesty, trust, harmony, and unity, Singapore has been a positive influence on East Asia and many other nations. I hope that it will continue to uphold these values, demonstrating to the world that truth and integrity are what make a nation prosperous and its people secure. By doing so, may Singapore become a beacon of positive influence in a world rampant with competition, war, deception, and lies.

Lord, we ask for Your blessing upon Singapore. May You use all the gifts You have bestowed upon it—its geography, economy, politics, society, culture, and education—as a channel of blessing to serve and love all the nations. Above all, we pray that Singapore would be used as a pioneering nation to expand Your Kingdom by raising up the next generation of spiritual leaders for East Asia. Bless its people to unite in harmony, so that peace and stability may be maintained. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

I would love for Singapore to truly become an Antioch of Asia, not just in terms of sending missionaries to the nations, but also to become a safe place of refuge for persecuted believers from around the region, just as how biblical Antioch was a place of refuge for the persecuted Jews from Jerusalem before it became a sending base for Paul & Barnabas.

I pray that Singapore will rise up to be a blessing to the nations in a similar way that she has been blessed. I pray that Singapore will experience a great revival & hunger for God even in the midst of comfort and convenience. I pray that the Singapore church will model what true love and community looks like and be a beacon of God’s hope and light for everyone to see.

• Japheth Chew, Alumnus, Malaysia

My biggest desire for Singapore is to more and more clearly realize that it has been blessed to be a blessing, that it would not see its influence, wealth, and successes as something it has achieve on its own but rather see it as a gift of God’s grace and a means to sacrificially bless and influence others for good. I desire that Singapore not become proud or indifferent toward others but look for ways to care for and meet the needs of the less fortunate. I desire the church in Singapore to more clearly see itself as a light to the nations, using its significant resources to serve others and boldly share the gospel with all who will listen.

Lord, continue to bless Singapore greatly by your grace and through Your kindness. May this nation bring honor and glory to you by being a blessing to the nations. May it grow in generosity, kindness, humility, and wisdom as the years pass. May it serve as a bright beacon and beautiful model of a good society, standing strong against the temptations that so often accompany power, wealth, and success. Protect its people from pride, greed, indifference, corruption, and ungodliness. Help its people elect wise, humble, capable, and morally upright leaders who will sacrificially serve the nation and interact judiciously and kindly with its neighbors and other nations around the world. May the church in Singapore seek to know and submit itself to God’s holy word, live holy lives, faithfully proclaim the gospel, plant churches, and send out laborers for the glory of God. Amen.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Singapore’s future is the hope that it becomes a Christian mission hub. I hope Singapore continues to prosper in education, technology, the economy, and infrastructure, areas in which it has already done remarkably well. Moreover, I deeply hope this country will flourish as a Christian nation, where the work of Christ flows abundantly.

To me, Singapore is a fine country with a high standard of living, and I wish for this to continue into the future. Singapore is known for its equality in diversity, but I hope this emphasis on equality does not go too far in promoting LGBTQ ideologies. I appreciate that the government has made efforts to prevent the legalization of same-sex marriage, but society seems to be increasingly accepting and normalizing it.

The fast growth of LGBTQ influence among the younger generation is evident today, with inclusiveness being promoted through various activities in business and commercial spaces. In the next 60 years, I hope the government will be able to protect its people from such lifestyles. I hope to see Singapore become known as a nation free from LGBTQ ideologies, an example of a society marked by high education and moral living.

I pray that Singapore will continue to embrace its diversity, maintain a high standard of living, and foster harmony among its people. As this country has been a blessing to many foreigners, including myself, I hope that its love and kindness will persist. As a top global leader in innovation, Singapore has made significant contributions to the world. My prayer is that it will continue to be a blessing to others.

I pray that Singaporeans will continue to embrace their diverse cultures as one, united in harmony and peace. I pray that this country will produce many godly men and women who will do the work of Christ. May godly leaders rise up to serve the people with love and integrity, being the true leaders they are called to be. May there be spiritual growth in the country, with churches becoming more mission-focused.

I pray that the work of God will be greatly manifested in this country, fulfilling the Great Commission given to believers in Matthew 28:18-20. As Singapore attracts people with its beauty, I pray that it will also shine as a light for those in darkness, bringing people to God.

Thanking God for this beautiful and peaceful country, I believe that greater works will be done by God through the handful of godly men and women in Singapore.

I would like to see Singapore as a society that has a firm foundation based on justice and equality. I would like to see the full spectrum of justice equitably applied: social justice, restorative justice, together with retributive and procedural justice. A society that prioritises equality of access to education, extra curricular activity, employment and the opportunity to excel.

My prayer is that every resident of Singapore imbues this pledge of a democratic society that is based on justice and equality with the deep acceptance that happiness, prosperity and progress will only be achievable if the least, the last and the lost receives equitable justice and equality.

I recently read an article in the Straight Times that some young men in Singapore have committed suicide because they felt like a failure. It is very sad that lives were lost because their values were tied to their job performances.

What was reported is symptomatic of the lack of love and value in the lives of the young. We are living in times where the value of people is tied closely to performances instead of who they are as human beings. We need to change this perception.

We are people of value firstly because we have been created by the almighty God in His image.
We also belong to families and societies where love for one another is encouraged.

Singapore has done well these past 60 years because our country’s leaders have emphasised the need for Singapore to be a multi-racial and multi-religious society based on democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.

As Christians from East Asia School of Theology, we strongly support Singapore’s national values because they are in line with our Lord Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 22:37-39 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love our neighbour as ourselves.”

Almighty God, my prayer for Singapore is for our country’s leaders to acknowledge You as their God. May they look to You for guidance in carrying out their significant roles on behalf of the people of Singapore.

May You grant them wisdom and insight to discern the times and seasons in our troubled world. Lord, enable them to have the ability and resources to respond with timely decisions and actions that make Singapore a Blessing to the Nations.

May the citizens and residents of Singapore appreciate Singapore’s leaders, their leadership, the goodness and blessings this land has to offer and act responsibly to make Singapore a Blessing to the Nations.

My Vision for Singapore in the next 60 Years is to see it evolve into a truly compassionate “City of Good” that sets a global standard not just for economic prowess but for human flourishing.

My vision is of a nation where progress is measured by the well-being of every citizen, where social safety nets are robust, and every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. In this future, SG cultural tapestry will grow richer, celebrating our diverse heritage while fostering a shared identity built on respect and empathy. I hope SG becomes a full Christian country.

I pray for the continued well-being and resilience of our people, that we may always find strength in shared purpose and compassion for one another. May the spirit of kindness and mutual respect permeate every neighborhood, home, and community, so that we may always see our differences as strengths, not divisions.

I pray that the leaders are guided by the Lord Jesus and fear God and seek God’s guidance and wisdom to lead the country.

My deepest hope is that Singapore remains a place the children can call home—a sanctuary of hope and a shining example of what is possible when a people stand together.

I hope Singapore will continue to be an excellent nation for the next 60 years. The young people will follow the excellent role models and love and serve this country. This country will continue to be a peaceful, stable, and harmonious nation, where people respect and care for one another and live in harmony. I also hope that Singapore will continue to shine on the world stage. Beyond economic growth, I hope Singapore will become more compassionate, creative, and wise to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. I hope that future generations will continue to uphold the values of integrity, justice, and unity. I also hope that more people who have different beliefs and faiths will be able to find the one and only truth.

My prayer for this country is that God will continue to bless this nation with wise and humble leaders who govern with fairness. May God bless and strengthen the people in Singapore to raise future generations with integrity and love. May Singapore be known not just for progress and achievements but also for kindness, justice, and compassion. Above all, let God’s truth and grace shine in this land, and may many turn their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Singapore will continue to enjoy economic prosperity. It will be a source of blessings to many nations, both economically and spiritually, as well as in global missions. I hope the faith community continues to grow and that younger generations of spiritual leaders are raised up to lead the churches and stand firm for God’s truth. I hope Singapore will be a place where people who are seeking truth and meaning can find it. It will continue to be a safe place where people can thrive and live in harmony with others from different backgrounds. I hope that godly culture and faith will guide the country in a direction that pleases God.

I pray that God will continue to protect this country and its people, making it a safe place where everyone can thrive. I pray that Singapore will be a blessing to all who live here and that those seeking truth and life will find it. I pray that children will grow up knowing God’s deep acceptance, love for them and walk in God’s truth. I pray that the churches in Singapore will be a lighthouse and a source of comfort for those who are sorrowful, lonely, and in need of love. I pray for God’s favour upon this country—that Singapore will be used by God mightily for His glory.

For Singapore to be the true Salt and Light and be the leading nation providing a glimpse of what true Heaven would look like, where every tribe, tongue, and people will gather in times of trouble and uncertainty.

Singapore to prosper in the love of Christ, in order that it will continue to be the hub for the love and blessings to overflow not only within but beyond to other nations.

• Ps Tak Funatogawa, Alumnus, Japan

I will never forget last week’s celebration of Singapore’s 60th National Day. From my home, I joined the nation in spirit as I watched the celebration online. Though it was only my second time watching the National Day Parade on YouTube, this year’s experience touched me far more deeply than before.

The first time I watched, I admired the people’s dedication and service to their country. But this time, I sensed something greater—the strength and resilience that enable Singapore to thrive and maintain its way of life in the midst of South Asia. Even as a foreigner, I felt profound respect and heartfelt sympathy for the hard work and sacrifices of the Singaporean people.

I truly hope Singapore will continue to pass down this indomitable spirit to the next generation and, in doing so, inspire other nations as well. My prayer is that this country will keep advancing with passion, preserving its heritage, and shining as an example of perseverance and unity to the world.
