Teaching Genesis 1-11: History and Science

Genesis 1–11 records God’s six days of creation, how Satan and sin corrupted God’s creation, and the events that followed that shaped the earth and human history.

At an All Asian Creation Conference with the theme on “Teaching Genesis 1-11: History and Science,” speakers for the plenary and breakout sessions will seek to address issues related to creation and science. At the plenary keynote session on 22 August 2025, the four speakers (with expertise in science, theology and church history) will present:

  1. How the secular claims have impacted the society and church, the different theological views on Genesis 1-2 that have emerged together with their issues and consequences.
  2. How science (experimental) does not contradict the Bible, the problems with the theories and evidence for big bang, evolution and an old Earth, and evidence that supports the biblical account of creation and Noah’s global flood.
  3. Theological reasons and biblical support to read and defend Genesis 1-11 as literal history, and the importance of equipping churches and leaders to be knowledgeable in this area for evangelism and discipleship.

Topics and speakers are as follow:

  • “Teaching Genesis 1-11 as Literal History – Present Issues and Future Directions”Dr Mona Bias, PhD in Old Testament, Resident Faculty of Biblical Studies, East Asia School of Theology.
  • “Worldview, Science and Evidence for 6-day Young-Earth Creation and the Global Flood” — Dr Don Batten, PhD in Plant Science, Agricultural Scientist; Senior Scientist, Creation Ministries International Australia.
