Inter College Games 2024

On 1 March 2024, five seminaries gathered at Trinity Theological College for the annual Inter College Games. Everyone gathered at the Bukit Panjang Methodist Church Sanctuary which was on the same grounds for a time of worship before the games kicked off. The games that were contested included a 5km rail corridor run, tele-match, table-tennis, captain’s ball, football, frisbee, chess, e-games, cooking mama, and bible quiz. We are grateful to the Student Councils of all the participating Bible schools for organising the various events.

The five seminaries included Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS), Discipleship Training Centre (DTC), East Asia School of Theology (EAST), Singapore Bible College (SBC) and our host Trinity Theological College (TTC). It was a day of fellowship, fun, and friendly competition among all the seminarians. Although EAST did not win a prize this year, everyone who participated fought hard and gave their all. We did however win the cup to host the Inter-Collegiate Games for 2025 in the end!

Below are what student Tan Jing Fei (Grad Dip) and staff Raymond Lim (Admin) had to share about their experiences of that day:

It was so entertaining to see a different side of everyone – our venerable lecturers shouting and cheering so hard they were turning red in the face, and our quiet, reserved classmates transforming into fiery competitive athletes on the field.

While everyone gave the games their best, we all knew that there was no glory in winning the ICG. The only goals worth pursuing were meeting new friends, serving one another, and displaying Christ in the way we competed. In that sense, every seminary student was a champion of the ICG. – Tan Jing Fei

1. What I enjoyed most from ICG 2024? Playing chess with students & teachers from other seminaries, & meeting my favourite teachers.
2. One personal lesson I have learned.
Do not ever overjudge the opponents’ capabilities and at the same do not be too overconfident as that causes us to let down our guard and lose the game. Strategic planning, and training is important to winning. Stay cool! – Raymond Lim
