Why is Jesus’ Resurrection Such a Big Deal?

Design: Blessed Ong

Jesus Christ is alive on that first Resurrection Sunday and for all time hence!

His being raised on the third day is truly a miracle. The resurrection of Jesus after his death and burial is also foundational to the Christian faith. Why is that so? There are at least five reasons why the resurrection is essential to all who believe in Christ as their Saviour and God (also see References below for more related information). These are primarily based on the Bible passage of 1 Corinthians 15:12-19.

1. The resurrection is the foundation for our belief and the preaching of the gospel (1 Cor. 15:14; cf. Hebrews 11:1).

2. The resurrection affirmed the testimony of the witnesses of the risen Christ (1 Cor. 15:15; cf. 15:5-8).

3. The resurrection is the basis for justification in which our sins were fully paid for (1 Cor. 15:17; cf. Romans 4:23-25 and John 14:19-20).

4. The resurrection similarly provided for all believers who have died with eternal life (1 Cor. 15:18).

5. The resurrection proved to all believers that Christ is able to do all things through His followers in this life and in the life to come (1 Cor. 15:19).
