“What we need today is not a greater number of intelligent people but wise people.” (These words are adapted from spiritual writer, Richard Foster). Who is the wise person? How do we develop wisdom? This course seeks to understand wisdom in both its ancient setting and canonical context. People sometimes have an idealized view of the first-century church—that it was consistently faithful to the Lord and relatively free of problems. However, careful study of the Epistles shatters this misconception—we see that the early Christians have much in common with us. In this course we will gain a better understanding of the Epistles and Revelation in their original settings and get insight into how to apply this literature to our lives today.
