Theological Methods (Day Course)
TS506 Theological Methods (3 credits)
Fridays: 9.00 am-12.45 pm, 18 July to 18 November 2016
Learn and critically evaluate the various ways theology has been practiced throughout Church history as well as its practice in the contemporary context. As a result students will be able to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of these various methods and develop a consistent theological method which will help them to become more biblically-minded and theologically responsible in approaching various issues in life and ministry. Pre-requisites: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics, TS510 Worldview and Biblical Decision Making.
Lewis Winkler, PhD
Lewis joined Cru in 1987 and has taught in three seminaries in the USA and Asia. He enjoys interacting with students over basketball and casual discussion on how the Bible applies to life and issues today.

OT511 Old Testament Poetry, Wisdom, and Prophets (3 credits)

Perhaps, like most believers, you are not familiar with the last half of the Old Testament. This course, which introduces the history, culture, style of writing, background and reasons for writing of the authors, is for you. Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.
Andrew Spurgeon, PhD
Andrew Spurgeon (PhD from Dallas Theological Seminary) is a visiting faculty at East Asia School of Theology. He has been teaching in Asian seminaries, primarily in India and the Philippines, since 1996. He is the Chairman for Publications for Asia Theological Association. He and his wife Lori work for the non-profit organization, Global Outreach International. They have three grown sons who live overseas.

Building on memorized vocabulary words and grammar rules, learn to read and translate simple sentences from the Hebrew Old Testament. Enrollment limited to MDiv Teaching and Exposition program students. Pre-requisite or concurrent with: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.
Toe Set, ThM
Toe Set has served with Cru in New Zealand, Myanmar, and Singapore among university student ministries, and in staff training. He has taught biblical Hebrew at EAST and other seminaries in Singapore and Myanmar.

Learn to use tools and methods that will make you a better informed and more accurate interpreter of the Old Testament, and be equipped with some fundamentals of Hebrew. Open to all except MDiv Teaching and Exposition program students. Pre-requisite or concurrent with: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.
Yee Chin Hong, PhD
Chin Hong received his PhD in Theological Studies (Old Testament concentration) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA). He is excited about equipping others for Old Testament studies through the acquisition and use of Biblical Hebrew.

New Testament Narratives (Day Course)
NT510 New Testament Narratives (3 credits)
Thursdays: 2.00 pm-5.30pm, 18 July to 18 November 2016
This course is a study of the life of Christ in the four Gospels as well as the early church and spread of Christianity in the book of Acts. The course will help you better understand the historical and cultural background, give you a deeper understanding of the Jesus’s teachings and ministry, and an appreciation for God’s work in building His Church. Pre-requisite: BS510 Bible Study Methods and Hermeneutics.
Amy Lau, ThM
Amy has taught Bible and theological classes since 2002. She has been on the pastoral team at St. John’s – St. Margaret’s Church. She teaches both in her own church and in other churches. She enjoys studying and teaching the Bible and desires for students to handle the Bible accurately, not just know content but that the Word of God will change their lives.
