Urban Ministries (Day course)
IS561 Urban Ministries (3 credits)
Fridays: 9.00 am – 12.45 pm, 5 January to 20 May 2016
Examines the biblical understanding of cities, the phenomenal growth of cities through the centuries, and issues in urbanization. It also deals with the analysis of urban people groups and their needs and the development of principles and strategies to evangelize and minister to city-dwellers, especially in Asia.
Song Tae Suk Raymond (PhD) and Kwa Kiem Kiok (PhD)
Raymond Song served with Cru for 15 years in the USA and Japan (Tokyo and Osaka) where he served as a Campus Director and a Regional Director. He has become well familiar with the urban mission and ministry setting through 8 years of urban mission in Japan and 19 years of pastoral ministry in urban ministry in local churches, including a church planting. He has earned Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL, USA where he has been a Course Tutor of Missions in the Distance Education program. He is married to Justine Han, and they have two sons in university.
Kiem is a member of Trinity Methodist Church (Singapore). Six years with Graduates’ Christian Fellowship, an affiliate of Fellowship of Evangelical Students, equipping graduates for witness and ministry in the marketplace. Involved in training, curriculum development, discipleship, and mentoring at Trinity Methodist Church. Lecturer at EAST since 2009.
