25th Anniversary Letter from the President

Dearly Beloved Partners in Ministry,

Warmest greetings in the Lord! I wish you a blessed 2017 filled with the Lord’s presence and favour.

EAST has increased in student enrolment and reached the limit of rented facilities. We have scaled beyond our borders to establish five EAST Extension Centers. By His grace we have privilege to touch lives from sixteen nations today. Truly, God has blessed supernaturally, including you and your partnership to make it possible. Thank you for the giving of yourselves generously in prayer and financial support.

2017 marks the 25th Anniversary of East Asia School of Theology.  Born out of faith vision, EAST still seeks to train, equip and raise ministry practitioners for the Great Commission in East Asia and beyond. By His grace we have championed holistic approach to learning, embracing the head, heart, and hands through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

The faithful many have laboured at EAST in the past that we may have privilege to continue in His call. As never before, in the last five years, God has caused increased fruit… in faculty and staff recruitment, in transformed lives, as He pushes us to new mission frontiers through the Extension Centers.

We celebrate our 25th Anniversary of God’s goodness with sincere prayer that God will use EAST for the glory of God and His Kingdom goals.

Thank you for your irreplaceable part as we move ahead with unwavering passion as partners and co-workers in God’s Kingdom work.

Warmly in Christ for His glory,

Rev Dr Chan Chong Hiok
President

The Inaugural EAST Homecoming 2017 for All Alumni

The Homecoming consisted of an Homecoming Dinner, Alumni Retreat and the 23rd Commencement Service. We are thankful to see both local and international alumni who joined us for this historic event. It was a most meaningful time re-connecting among the alumni and with the faculty and staff present. Dr Rick Langston (and his wife, Laurel), the co-founding faculty of EAST, delivered his video greetings across the miles from the USA.

1. Homecoming Dinner: Wednesday, 10 May 2017, Singapore

2. Alumni Retreat: Wednesday to Friday, 10-12 May 2017, Singapore
– Theme: Ministering for the Long Haul
– Speaker: Dr John Oswalt, Visiting Distinguished Professor of Old Testament, Asbury Theological Seminary

3. EAST 23rd Commencement Service: Saturday, 13 May 2017, Singapore

At the 23rd Commencement Service on 13 May 2017, we witnessed not just the graduation of our students but the conferral of doctoral degree to three of our faculty too: Casey Lok, DMin (EAST alumnus 2007); Lau Ying Kheng, EdD; and Jeremy Chew, PhD (EAST alumnus 2007).

We praise God for His faithfulness and goodness!

Celebrating EAST’s 25th Anniversary at the Celebration Service

At the 25th Anniversary Celebration Service on 22 July 2017, we recounted God’s goodness and faithfulness over the years as Dr Rick Langston hosted a video replay of the history of EAST. Through the video greetings from EAST alumni spread out across the missions field of the world and the challenging message from the EAST President, we were reminded of the vision He has given us of “developing Christ-like leaders for the Great Commission” in the next 25 years. We praise God for His empowerment and provision as together we move forward together toward His vision for EAST!

Giving Beyond the 25th Anniversary Celebration

We are trusting God to raise up ministry partners who can invest with EAST to fulfill God’s vision and mission. The EAST Expansion Fund was set-up for initiatives to support the expansion and multiplication of the ministry and theological development reach of the school in Singapore and beyond.

You have a variety of giving methods when remitting money to EAST as listed here. Be sure to clearly indicate the specific purpose of your gift as: EAST Expansion Fund.
