Encourages teachers, facilitators, and ministry trainers to integrate biblical perspectives and principles of teaching and learning as they seek to understand learners and communicate biblical truth in different contexts. The philosophy, process, and procedures of designing a formal or non-formal educational course are discussed and applied. Students develop one or more sessions and teach either in a formal or non-formal educational setting.
Prerequisites: LF530 Teaching & Learning 1, OT510 Old Testament Narratives, and NT510 New Testament Narratives.
Course limited to program students and visiting credit students.
Jeannette Shubert, PhD, has taught at EAST since 2009 and enjoys seeing people develop skill and confidence as they facilitate learning in formal and non-formal environments. She was nominated to and listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She has completed advanced degrees at Biola University (intercultural education), Dallas Theological Seminary (academic ministry – Bible exposition), and the University of Nebraska-Omaha (counseling) that enrich her teaching and discipleship ministry.

Introduces the exciting biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic perspectives of Christian world missions. Special emphasis is given to the expansion of Christianity, missionary methods used by key people and lessons for today. How much of God’s global mission has been completed, how much is left to do, how it is being done, and what He wants to do through His people are key subjects addressed in this course. Students will learn how to be meaningfully involved in missions and to help lead a missional church.
Raymond Song, PhD, served with Cru for 15 years in the USA and Japan (Tokyo and Osaka), and in pastoral ministry among Korean-American churches for 19 years. He and his wife, Justine Han, also served with the Distance Education program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (USA). Raymond and Justine are blessed with two adult children.

Old Testament Narratives (Onsite) – Day Course

9 January – 8 May 2026, Tuesdays, 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm
Expositional study of the Pentateuch and the Historical books of the Old Testament (Genesis through Esther) giving attention to the covenant motif and theological themes. Emphasis will also be given to interpretation of narrative genre with attention to various elements such as literary, historical, political, and cultural context as well as relationship to the New Testament.
Prerequisite: BS510 Inductive Bible Study Method.
Toe Set, ThM, enjoys helping people understand the Old Testament. Over the years, he has taught various Old Testament books not only in Singapore but elsewhere in Asia to lay leaders, pastors, and full-time Christian workers.

Biblical Greek 2 (Onsite) – Day Course

9 January – 8 May 2026, Tuesdays, 9.00 am – 12.00 pm
Building on NT501, this course strengthens students’ knowledge and skills in applying the principles of Greek grammar, syntax, and semantics in New Testament exegesis. Students will become more competent in using Bible software and tools that utilise Greek to translate and analyse NT passages. They will also learn the steps of exegesis and apply them to exegete NT passages.
Prerequisites: NT501 Biblical Greek 1: Elementary Greek, and/or concurrent with BS511 Biblical Hermeneutics.
Course limited to program students and visiting credit students.

June Chan, ThM, MLitt, received her ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary (USA), where she was trained in the biblical languages. She went on to complete an MLitt in Theology and the Arts at the University of St Andrews (Scotland), engaging in interdisciplinary study and research on the role of the arts within theology and the place of theology within the arts. Her academic preparation and ministry experience reflect her passion to equip others to live authentic and holistic lives devoted to the Lord. She currently serves as a visiting instructor for Greek 2 at EAST.

Singleness & the Kingdom of God (Onsite)

9 January – 8 May 2026, Tuesdays, 13 Jan – 3 Mar, 9.00 am – 11.00 am
This course explores the biblical and theological understanding of singleness in the Christian life. Students will examine their calling and roles according to Scripture, as well as the challenges singles face in the 21st century, including personal struggles, social dynamics, and spiritual growth. Through biblical perspectives, theological reflections, and contemporary issues, students will gain insights into how singleness can be a fulfilling part of the Christian journey. Ultimately, students will leave with practical tools to navigate singleness and be equipped to serve effectively among singles.
Napitchaya Panum, ThM, comes with ministry experiences of working with college students in Thailand and the USA. She received her ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary (USA). Her desire is to use her training to equip students to engage actively in God’s word with both heart and mind.
Heng Hwee Chuang, DMin, has MACE and DMin degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary (USA). She has more than 30 years of Christian Education experience in creche, children, youth, and adult ministries in the USA, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, and East Asia. Her passion is for Christians to have a clear biblical worldview and be Christ-like servant-leaders in all areas of life.
