Courses for Christian Counselling (in Korean)

The following are courses conducted for the Certificate in Christian Counselling program designed for Korean women under the auspices of EAST and Elim Center in partnership. While these courses are designed to be taken as part of the above certificated program, audit students are welcome to enroll and benefit from such classes. All classes are conducted in Korean.

Information for Audit Students

Audit students will not receive any course credits for attending a class. They are expected, however, to complete some pre-class readings and/or certain projects to maximise their learning experience in class.

Courses are conducted during academic terms on Mondays for 4 hours, 10.00 AM – 12.00 PM and 12.30 PM to 2.30 PM.

Audit School Fees per Course: S$150.

Registration deadline is 1 week before the start date of each course.

Term 1

CCC-KR01 Foundations of Christian Counseling 기독교 상담의 기초

Dates: October 26 – November 23, 2026 (4 Mondays)
Term Break: November 30, 2026 – January 4, 2027
Registration deadline: October 19, 2026

This course introduces the foundational principles of Christian counselling by examining its definitions, purposes, and distinctives in comparison with general counselling. Students will explore the theoretical foundations and essential components of Christian counselling while learning how these principles are applied in real counselling situations.

It further introduces the counselling process and practical counselling skills applicable in family life and church ministry. In addition, students will examine ethical guidelines and professional boundaries in counselling, while emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and spiritual maturity as a Christian counsellor. Practical strategies for lifelong personal and professional growth will also be explored.

 

Term 2

CCC-KR02 Building Strong Families and Relationships 가족회복을 위한 성경적 상담

Dates: January 11 – February 1, 2027 (4 Mondays)
Term Break: November 30, 2026 – January 4, 2027
Registration deadline: January 4, 2027

This course examines the various conflicts and emotional wounds experienced by contemporary families from a biblical perspective. It aims to equip students to foster healthy family relationships through restored intimacy, effective communication, and biblical reconciliation.

Students will learn to understand issues such as intimacy, communication, conflict, emotional wounds, blame, and sin within family relationships from a biblical perspective. They will acquire practical counseling skills to facilitate healing and restoration.

The course also provides opportunities to practice counseling techniques that address recurring patterns of misunderstanding, criticism, hurt, and unresolved sin. Finally, students will develop practical action plans for commitment, reconciliation, and lasting change that can be applied within both the family and church communities.

CCC-KR03 Navigating Emotional Pain and Crisis 고통과 위기 다루기

Dates: February 15 – March 8, 2027 (4 Mondays)
Lunar New Year’s Day Holiday: February 7 – 8, 2027
Registration deadline: February 8, 2027

This course explores developmental and situational crises from the perspective of Christian counselling, examining the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and spiritual responses that often accompany times of suffering and crisis. Students will develop a biblical understanding of human suffering while learning evidence-informed crisis intervention models and practical counselling skills for responding effectively to individuals experiencing crisis.

Through the integration of theory, case studies, and practical application, students will examine issues such as stress, grief, loss, trauma, and life transitions. Particular attention will be given to assessing clients’ needs, providing appropriate support during crises, and facilitating resilience, healing, and hope.

The course also emphasizes the counsellor’s self-awareness, reflective practice, and self-care. Students will explore their own responses to suffering and develop healthy strategies for preventing compassion fatigue and burnout. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to provide compassionate, biblically grounded, and ethically responsible care to individuals facing crises in counselling, church, and community settings.

 

Term 3

CCC-KR06 Cases and Practice in Christian Counselling 기독교상담의 사례와 실제

Dates: April 12 – May 3, 2027 (4 Mondays)
Spring Break: March 15 – April 5. 2027
Registration deadline: April 5, 2027

This course moves beyond learning counselling techniques by equipping students to understand clients holistically and to develop appropriate counselling interventions through real-life counselling cases.

Using Case Conceptualization grounded in a biblical worldview, students will learn to analyze clients’ presenting concerns from an integrated perspective, establish counselling goals, and formulate intervention plans that combine sound counselling theories with biblical principles.

Through case analysis, discussion, and practical application, students will develop the competence to design and implement effective counselling interventions in real counselling situations.
