Financial Aid

The school seeks to provide financial assistance to needy students to help them complete their course of study at EAST. There are two kinds of aid available:

  1. Tuition Assistance Plan (TAP)*
  2. TAP is available to students who have tried but are unable to raise their full financial support for their studies. Campus Crusade staff members are eligible to apply for this aid if their support account is in deficit or they are unable to cover the full amount of the tuition fees. The money is not given directly to the students, but is used to settle the students' tuition fees. Please refer to the TAP application form for detailed terms and conditions.

  3. Chest Fund (CHEST)*
  4. CHEST helps students in need to defray the costs of the basic living expenses in Singapore. The amount given depends on availability of funds and the needs of the students. The money is normally given directly to the student on a monthly basis or as a one-time gift. Please refer to the CHEST application form for detailed terms and conditions.

  5. Walter Steitz Memorial Scholarship

The Walter Steitz Memorial Scholarship has been set up in memory of the outstanding service and contribution of the late Dr. Walter Steitz to East Asia School of Theology. The award will be given to a current outstanding student who is doing the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies or Master of Divinity (Teaching & Exposition). T he scholarship recipient will be chosen by the faculty of EAST. Academic achievement, leadership potential, and school involvement are the criteria by which the candidate is judged. Please refer to the information leaflet in the Administration Office for detailed terms and conditions.

* TAP and CHEST are awarded according to the needs of the students and the amount of funds available.

Any student wishing to apply for any form of financial assistance must apply in writing by the first Friday of each academic year. He can collect the application form for financial aid from the Students' Forms Tray in the Administrative Office.

Master's students who are receiving any financial aid must maintain a GPA average of at least 2.7 in order to remain eligible for assistance. Bachelor's students must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 in order to remain eligible for assistance. Failure to do so will result in the loss of financial assistance.

Evaluation for financial assistance is done on a quarterly basis.
