Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry

Description

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry is a special 127-credit degree programme. The programme provides a broad foundation for those who anticipate continued vocational Christian service and wish to continue their theological education at the master's level. It is designed for those who have completed a diploma from a recognized tertiary institution (such as a Polytechnic), have at least two years of field ministry experience and plan to continue in full-time Christian Ministry.

The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry students may earn up to 40 credits of advanced standing by satisfying the objectives of 10 out of 13 possible Bachelor Foundational subjects. Advanced standing credits may also be acquired by transfer credits. Those students who acquire 40 credits of advanced standing can complete the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry programme in two years. Those with less than 40 credits of advanced standing are required to take more classes at EAST.

Specific Objectives

  1. To foster the student's growth in Christian character and commitment to our Lord's Great Commission.
  2. To provide the student with a basic knowledge and understanding of the basic content of the Bible and the basic skills and methods needed to study the Word of God.
  3. To develop skills for effective ministry in evangelism, discipleship, teaching, writing, and teaching people to follow God's Word.
  4. To examine the essential doctrines of Christianity of God's working through the history of Christianity.

Admissions Requirements

EAST considers each applicant's qualifications in these five areas:

  1. Maturity (personal, social, and spiritual)
  2. Ministry experience - at least two years of filed ministry experience with plans to continue in full-time Christian ministry.
  3. Leadership ability
  4. Academic ability
  5. Academic entry requirement: An A-level certificate or diploma from a recognized tertiary institution.
Note: EAST reserves the right to make exceptions to the above policy. In addition, applicants need to have at least two years of field ministry experience and plan to continue in full-time Christian ministry.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Completion of the 127 credits as listed under distribution requirements with a minimum GPA of 2.25.
  2. Completion of the cross-cultural internship.
  3. Completion of any deficiencies required by the programme.
  4. File application for graduation with the Registrar at the beginning of the last year of the programme.
  5. Approval of the candidate for the degree by an EAST faculty evaluation committee.
  6. All tuition and fees paid in full.
  7. Attendance at commencement exercises (unless special permission for absence is obtained).
